About Us
After spending 20 years in the teaching profession, Margaret has shared 30 more years working in the ever increasing commercial world of the coffee/hospitality industry with members of her family. Collectively they have had more than 48 years experience! Thus it was with some confidence that she designed our course content to give vital information on many aspects of the specialty coffee industry and a generous proportion of time for hands-on practice in the making of popular espresso beverages.
Adrian was introduced to the world of coffee through doing the Professional Barista Course at The Espresso Coffee School in 2004. From there he worked in several cafes to put the skills into practice and become a Professional Barista. In the last few years he has moved into the technical side of the industry as a Coffee Machine Technician, servicing and repairing coffee machines throughout the Auckland Region. He has also kept his passion for making perfect espresso coffee alive by being a tutor for the school since 2008, taking people from being interested in coffee to being passionate about coffee and the importance of having the knowledge and skills to serve consistently perfect espresso coffee.
Small classes ensure personalized attention to individual needs and interests. Our tutors are highly successful operators in specialized areas of the coffee/café business. They have developed stimulating and rewarding careers through solid business practice rather than state service. "We love making espressos and we appreciate the importance top quality barista skills has in a cafe reaching its full profit potential!" These tutors share their passion for excellence and their enthusiasm for espresso is infectious.
Here at The Espresso Coffee School we all agree that Espresso has the potential to be the best method of making coffee but it demands the human touch- that of a master coffee maker- the BARISTA and a sexy one at that!
"We practice what we preach."
